In a memerandus detød 8.8.47 from the Commissioner of
Police I am instructed that in future correspondance on the
above matter should be addressed to you. ( capy attached )
It will be seen that paras. 1 and 2 of the Commission-
er of Police's mono. deals with the subject ef extensions "

"On receipt of the original mesq. by the Pre-Far officers on about 19th December, 1945 it was felt by many that insufficient time had been given to comply.

I was approached by a large number of the said officers on this point and as a result, telephened t Aet. C.I. MoEwen, then medium of approach to the CONE- issioner of Police, informing him of this. He informed me that he tee had been similarly approached and that as I had telephoned, he would consult with the Commissioner of Foliee. Later he telephoned end informed me that the date had been extended to the 7th January 1947, as result of this I informed the officers concerned.
The subject matter was discussde by a fully represented body of Pre-Ear officers. I sccupied the chair and was expevored by the meeting to conduct this aætter en behalf of the Pre-War officers.
As a result of this meeting a meme. ( copy attach- ed ) was addressed te the Commissioner of Police, an a eknowledgement of receipt was received.
A reply dated 28.12.46 was received from the
Commissioner of Police. ( copy attached )
A full reply dated 29th January 1947, was submitte by me to the Commissioner of Police and para. 5 refers t the said extension ( extracted copy attached)

H.K.Police General Order No.91 of 1947, Part One, refere to the said extension. ( extracted copy attached) A@ result of this General Order I addressed a zene. (copy attached ) dated 12th July, 1947 to the Commissio -er of Police. ( The first attachment is a reply thereto)
